The Griffin is a creature from Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Persian, Minoan, Greek, and Roman mythology that has the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. The first written descriptions of the griffin can be found as early as the 7th century BCE, visual depictions of the griffin can be found even earlier.


Traditionally known for guarding treasures and possessions, the griffins are protectors from evil and witchcraft and they symbolise courage, leadership and strength.
